Our client came to us with a requirement to replace a damaged double glazed unit located above there busy reception area.

Upon completion of our pre-site visits, we issued detailed site and task specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments as well as a quantification of materials required to conduct the works.

Upon completion of the site set-up, we began by systematically removing and setting aside the external facia cappings, pressure plates and associated EPDM gasketry. Once the existing defective glass unit was removed, our operatives commenced with the preparation works of the aperture ahead of the new installation. This included a clean to the bay to remove existing dirt/debris build-up prior to the installation of new EPDM seating gaskets, setting blocks and glazing packers.

Utilising our access equipment both internally and externally, our operatives then commenced with the installation of the new 34mm double glazed unit into the glazing bay.

To provide a water tight seal, foil backed butyl glazing tape was installed on all glass/glass interface points. The existing pressure plates were prepared and re-installed using new stainless steel greased fixings and torqued into position to ensure suitable compression on the new EPDM flipper gaskets.

With the glass securely in place, the final stage of the project involved the installation of the facia capping and weather flashings – all cleaned and replaced as required. A system compatible structural silicon sealant was then applied around the system to provide the necessary weather-proofing required.

Upon completion, we conducted a clean of the newly refurbished panel and surrounding works area and undertook a water test to ensure the integrity of the glazing structure. Our Project Management Team then conducted our final visual inspection to ensure works met our expected high standards before we handed over to a very happy client.
