Our client came to us with a requirement to conduct the full glazing refurbishment of a small vertical facade to a shopping centre in Bishops Stortford. We received a specification of the clients requirements to remove 20No opening glazed vent panels and replace with new fixed double glazed units to match as closely as possible the existing surrounding panels in order to maintain the Centre’s aesthetic appearance.

Upon completion of our pre-site visits, we issued a full works program for our client and an initial pre-phase construction plan consisting of site and task specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments to cover all proposed operations.

Upon completion of the site set-up, we began by systematically stripping bays of the existing vented glazed panels along with the existing system components such as mountings, bracketry and actuators.

Utilising our access equipment both internally and externally, our operatives then commenced with the installation of the new clear double glazed units into the glazing bays. With the glass securely in place, the final stage of the project involved the installation of the external retaining pressure plates and facia cappings – all cleaned and replaced as required. A system compatible structural silicon sealant was then applied around the system to provide any necessary weather-proofing required.

Upon completion, we re-painted all the internal steelwork in a white 9010 finish and conducted an internal/external clean of the newly refurbished curtain walling and a water test to ensure the integrity of the glazing structure. Our Project Management Team then conducted our final visual inspection to ensure works met our expected high standards before we passed over to a very happy client.

The Shopping Centre was able to trade as normal throughout the duration of the overhead refurbishment works due to site and task specific access control methods deployed and implemented by our experienced Small Works Glazing Refurbishment operatives.
