Roof Inspection Techniques
Glazing Refurbishments Roof Management Plan incorporates state of the art testing methods to determine the condition of all your roofs materials and structures. Our numerous techniques are listed below and when combined with the keen eye of our specially trained surveying team we can guarantee your roof will be inspected to the highest standard. The most important step in the care and maintenance of your roof is understanding its current condition. Proactive roof tests are the key to identifying defects and problems in their early stages, before they turn into costly repairs, and allows us to determine the appropriate roof maintenance strategies to extend the life of your roof beyond its usual life cycle.
Utilising a number of different access techniques from rope access, mechanical access and bespoke roof boardwalk systems, Glazing Refurbishment can guarantee every inch of your roof asset will be inspected fully and in all cases safely.
Our Site Technicians are trained to CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) standards, IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) standards, IPAF (Industrial Powered Access Federation) standards and PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers' and Manufacturers' Association) standards. Our Health and Safety Managers, Operations Managers, Project Managers and Site Technicians are also trained to SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) standards.

Glass Roof Leak Testing
Generally system seals, gaskets and hardware are the initial components to begin to fail within any roofs glazing system, either through age or environmental deterioration.
The application of water to the buildings glazing includes glass; glazing system; all associated components and fixings and supporting structural steelwork, all lead/aluminium and flashband weather seals and drainage outlets. Our tests are strategically planned in conjunction with volume and duration. In addition and whilst considering the source of the leak, additional considerations such as capillary forces are taken into account.

CWCT Water Test
Water penetration resistance may be tested to check workmanship or design of your roofs glazing. Workmanship is checked using the hose test whilst design is tested using an improvised cabinet test or in the case of patent glazing and rainscreens a spray bar test.
Electrical Earth Leak Detection
Our electrical earth leak test equipment introduces a stabilised direct current over the dry roof membrane. This method allows us to detect leaks without the need to remove surface coatings and further disrupt the roofs ingress problems.
Infrared Thermal Imaging Detection
Infrared Technology allows accurate location of wet or missing insulation within your roofs waterproofing system. Moisture tends to be cooler or warmer than normal construction materials and as such our Infrared Image testing provides valuable diagnostic information for identifying water intrusion and mould growth.
Interscope Surveys
Using fibre optic endoscopes we can monitor and evaluate the state of your roof items such as voids, damp proof membranes and your damp proof course condition. Apply such technology to your roof asset allows to offer projected deterioration and recommendations to prolong your roofs lifespan.
Quality Control Integrity Testing
Our non-destructive integrity testing methods can prove that installed waterproofing membranes are free from defects and fit for purpose. Any problems can be swiftly repaired, retested by our roof management team with certificate of conformity handed over to eliminate contractor dispute and quicken possible handover.
Dye testing
When our more sophisticated electronic leak testing methods are unsuitable for your roof application we revert back to the tried and tested colored dye testing techniques. Dye testing is particularly useful when investigating and testing roof drainage systems, metal coping joints and possible penetrations to the drainage hardware.
Ultrasonic Leak Detection
Our ultrasonic leak detection equipment allows us to identify leaks around glazing seals, metal profiles, standing seam roofs and roof penetrations.
Vacuum Testing
Using mobile electronic capacitance meters our accurate non-destructive inspection can identity wet or damp insulation within your roof application. Vacuum testing is most effective when investigating unheated buildings such as warehouses.
Electronic Moisture Scans
Our full range of trolley mounted/hand held capacitance meters are specially designed for detecting moisture content within built up roofing systems. Particularly efficient when inspecting buildings with heat generating sources at roof level, unheated buildings and flat roof applications covered by chippings.
