Winter Is Coming
15th October 2014
With the coming of winter and imminent colder weather, now is the time to think about winter safety and preparing for the change in season.Routine maintenance is important throughout the season for any form of glazing, however, seasonal changes present specific challenges due to the additional stresses cold weather exerts on the individual components.
This is the time to run a cursory check across your windows, atriums and curtainwalling. check for any obvious signs of degradation - excessive condensation is an obvious sign of trouble.
By doing this now you should pick up other warning signs such as problems with the sealant, and loose pressure caps or gaskets. when temperatures plummet, the resultant expansion and contraction will expose cracks dents or other weaknesses in the glass surface, so anything picked up early could save £000's down the road not to mention health and safety considerations.
Of course some areas of glazing may be difficult to reach or require specialist access expertise. In those cases G G Contracts Limited would be pleased to carry out an inspection and report to help you avoid the pitfalls of winter weather.
