Major Glazing Refurbishment Completion
27th November 2017
A project that we have been working on and reporting on over the last month has now reached completion. The works were completed on time and in budget, resulting in another happy client for Glazing Refurbishments. After the initial stage of removing the defective glazing units from the property, we were able to begin the replacement of the high level glazing units to bring them up to a fully serviceable standard.
Due to the sheer size of the glazing panels, our site team had to utilise a mobile crane which was used to move the glass into position using an inline sucker. A team of IRATA trained abseil technicians were working in tandem with internal glazing operatives to guide the defective glass down from the building and immediately replace it with the new glazed units.
In order for this to happen, we also had a team of glazing experts on the ground who were removing the defective units from the sucker and disposing of the glass in a safe and controlled manor. They were then able to attach the new glazing unit to the sucker so that it could be guided into the open aperture before the external abseil team and the internal operatives could secure the new unit into position and move onto the next panel. The whole process was then repeated until project completion.
The final stage included a full clean down of the area and ensuring our client’s staff could go back to a safe and secure area, ready for the offices to open on Monday morning.
