Emergency Overhead Make Safe Works
2nd December 2016
Our commercial client contacted Glazing Refurbishment requiring our team to conduct emergency make-safe works to one overhead glass unit, situated within a glass atrium at their building located in Surrey. Due to the units location and difficult access, our IRATA trained rope access technicians were required to reach the glazing face and conduct the make-safe works.
The team started with the safe removal of the existing shattered outer pane for off-site disposal. Once the existing shattered pane was removed and the cleaning out of the glazing rebate, the team then installed a polycarbonate panel to the outer face of the unit to create a temporary weather proofed system, as shown from our site photos.
The GR procurement team will now source a unit to match the glass specification of the other glass units. Once sourced our team will revisit site in the near future and remove the temporary weather proofed system and install the new glazed unit.
