3rd May 2016
Announced at the end of April was the exciting news that our sister company, Cambs Glass Ltd, have reached an agreement with Cambridge United Football Club to become their new stadium sponsor for the forthcoming season. From the beginning of the 2016/17 Football League season, CUFC will play all of their home fixtures at the newly named Cambs Glass Stadium. The new partnership will also see Cambs Glass Ltd take up sponsorship of the club’s high-end hospitality room, which will be renamed the Cambs Glass Hospitality Lounge from next season.
The League Two club share the same values of the Glazing Group; growing talent from within and reinvesting into the local community. The club has a successful academy nurturing talent and we strongly believe in training and developing our employees to achieve their full potential. So strengthening our ties with this like minded club was an effortless decision.
Cambs Glass director, Adam Eagle, spoke of his and the company’s delight of reaching this milestone in the history of Cambs Glass Ltd. “Following on from the successful dug-out sponsorship for the season now ending, when the opportunity arose to further strengthen our commercial ties with the U’s there was no hesitation in making a decision. As a company we have highly ambitious growth and development plans, something that Cambridge United share both on and off the pitch. We also pride ourselves on being a local business, reinvesting into the local community, again this is shared by CUFC. Signing this new agreement is a delight to all involved at Cambs Glass and shows our commitment to a long term association with Cambridge United Football Club.”
Liz Slack, Business Operations Manager for Cambridge United, commented on the new commercial agreement “Cambs Glass are a local company, run by local people and like Cambridge Untied, they have an ambition to succeed and develop their business in conjunction with the community within which they operate.
“The directors of the company are true fans of the club and therefore understand the sensitivity that comes with a partnership of this nature. The deal that has been agreed is structured in a way that provides enormous benefits to the club and will ensure that Cambs Glass will be associated with Cambridge Untied for the long term.”
Meanwhile CUFC Chairman Dave Doggett spoke about the strong financial value of this new partnership, adding “It will always be the ‘Abbey Stadium’ to our fans, but we live in a commercial world and this is a significant benefit to the club, which will allow us to deliver future on field success.”
