Condensation problems?
23rd January 2015
If you've ever wondered about condensation and why it is important to avoid it, here is a story for you.Our house has a porch - unheated, but with double cavity walls and new windows. With the onset of colder weather we were wondering why there seemed to be more and more condensation in the porch.
Nothing we tried had any effect - keeping the internal door shut? Turning the heating up? Nope! The result was more condensation, and the threat of mould spores forming eventually.
Having exhausted all other possibilities it finally registered that the answer was right under our noses. Lack of ventilation.
You see any time condensation occurs to an internal space be it a home or office, fresh air will usually be the solution. This is because the relative humidity externally is almost always lower outside than internally, and believe it or not this is true even if it is pouring down outside.
So next time you hit a blank with condensation issues, try opening - it just might work!
